The girls wanted to travel, but I had a low budget and they wouldn’t go without me… oh, how nice of them! So I told them that I would figure a rather affordable vacation for the three of us.
It was still sunny and beautiful; I did a fast research and booked a room for 2 nights and 3 days at West Bekaa Country Club.
We enjoyed a lovely, calm, green atmosphere; as well as a little of indulgence from the delightful staff (I still remember their names; Samer – the waiter, and Hassan – the receptionist). They were kind, and informative, and always ready to serve or preferably saying, to assist us around and about WBCC.
Surely, there were a few issues here and there, like the water of the swimming pool being extremely cold, and the fact that there were no ‘manakish’ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manakish) or croissant for breakfast. But I had promised myself to NEVER expect anything while vacationing. I have read many times in many sites and books that expectation is doomed. It leads to deception and frustration. And since then, I have decided not to anticipate, and boy it has led me to being grateful.
Not only we did enjoy our staying, but we set ourselves to come back again. And here I am writing on my virtual journal…
The night before our departure, we were conversing with the staff; we thanked them for their assistance and surely “advised” (as it is customary in Lebanon) that they could do something about the swimming pool water (since the indoors swimming pool which they posted about at their site wasn’t available in reality), only to find out that we could have asked at the reception to turn on the heating system. Well, normally we would get irritated but then again; no expectations equals no deceptions!
Do I recommend visiting WBCC? Of course YES!
