As simple as that, I have chosen to travel Lebanon (where I am living in nowadays) for a couple of weeks.
Baalbek is known worldwide; Temple of Bacchus, Temple of Jupiter which is under restoration, Temple of Venus, etc... Well, you can read about its history everywhere; what I will tell you here is the history we built while visiting the site.
My friend Oleg who has been living all of his life in Lebanon has never been to Baalbek. And I am a believer that if you don’t know the country you live in, how can you possibly travel the world?!
Done the readings before hand, and adopted my own style of telling and presenting; we toured the site for approximately three hours!
After talking and showing, I even asked my friends in a quiz way about the different motifs found in the site.
It is important to tour with friends who have a sense of photography, so that you get decent photos.
Now, who among yourselves haven’t sometime in life, researched about their names?! Curious to find what my name Diana holds as a meaning.
We literally touched the stones, sat and pictured life in that past that seems to live longer than us. Being a designer, I imagined and tried to visualize the costumes, tiaras and accessories, of each period. It was such a rich morning; up until the clock on my iphone displayed 13:47 p.m.
As I usually do, I booked a table at the best restaurant in town - Baalbeck Palace.
Baalbeck Palace is truly a Palace! We were treated like royalties. The food was excellent, taste and presentation wise. Service was impeccable; and price was very good. I am glad it was a very good choice!
Driving back home, we stated the peak and low of the day. There were many highs and not one low; ok, maybe one which I won’t write it here so that you get to draw your own experience.
